Youth Baseball
My oldest son moved up to Pee Wee baseball in the city park league. This is the first time I haven't been his coach in a long time.
This is a good thing. Not because I don't like to coach him, but it was time for him to hear a new voice.
The coach who "drafted" him is very knowledgeable - far more then me. The best part is that Caleb is listening to him. Who knows if he will turn in to a ball player, but as long as he continues to listen to his new coach, he will learn the fundamentals.
Baseball is a simple game but it sure is a difficult game to execute well.
I strongly believe that things work out for a reason. Although I didn't know his coach before Caleb was drafted, and didn't know any of the kids on the team, I believe he ended up where he was meant to be.
Here's to a good season - and maybe a base hit or two.

win $10,000!
Wow! I just saw an ad on shelbystar.com asking if I want to win $10,000 - click here to find out more!
I want to win $10,000, so I clicked. The leaderboard ad took me to a "landing page" for the Council on Aging/Senior Center reverse drawing fundraiser. Only 500 tickets will be sold. All 500 tickets will be drawn and posted on a board. 15 winning tickets will be drawn, each receiving a prize - the last ticket drawn is the grand prize winner of $10,000.
Sounds pretty cool, and not bad odds of winning either.
The drawing is May 3, and tickets are on sale now.
I checked the reporting on the campaign, it went live yesterday and received 6 clicks so far, delivering - a click through rate of .32%. This is above the industry average for click through. I imagine this will only improve as more folks see the compelling ad.
Who doesn't want to win $10,000? Check it out on shelbystar.com.
*"Landing pages" are great for folks who don't have websites - or want to supply specific information that might not be contained in a website. We are equipped to build you a landing page to drive conversions - results to you!

Pinewood Derby
My son competed in the Pinewood Derby for Pack 104 last night. His car made it to the 5th round. (one round farther then last year). In the double elimination tourney his car lost to the eventual 5th place winner then lost to the eventual 4th place winner, ending his chances for reaching the district tournament. (The top 5 cars advance to compete in the district tournament).
This event is one of the coolest events that the Cub scouts do all year. The opportunity to work with my son, helping him build the car, paint it and get it set just right is half the fun. The competition and the chance to race the other kids from his pack is pretty cool too.
We had a great time racing and even though we didn't have the best car in the tournament we were proud of the car we built together.
Maybe next year we can go even further - if only we can figure out the allusive secrets to Pinewood Derby speed!

Real Estate Success
In a soft real estate market, agents need to continually look for innovative ways to reach the public. One local real estate agent is doing just that with an impressive online campaign on shelbystar.com.
If you are a regular or even casual reader of the star online I'm sure you have seen the attractive ad campaign Carol Schenck is currently running. The ads positioned on the leaderboard feature the various houses currently listed with Carol. (The leaderboard is the horizontal ad position across the top of the page). Clicking on the leaderboard ads takes the visitor to Carol's Allen Tate website and provides an easy and effective way to browse for local homes for sale.
The leaderboard ads are delivering an impressive click through rate of 1.53% since going live just a few days ago. (Remember industry average for click through rates is .2%, so you can see that Carol's campaign is really driving results).
For information on how you can reach thousands of online readers and shoppers give me a call or email. Our design team is fully equipped to build you an online campaign that will drive results!

Hungry for Lunch
A recent online campaign for Chen's restaurant went live on shelbystar.com. The online banner campaign features an ad in the leaderboard position of our website. This is the horizontal ad space across the top of each page.
This campaign is dayparted to appear the hours leading up to and through lunch. So far the campaign is producing a tremendous response. When the leaderboard ad is clicked, a landing page appears listing the daily lunch buffet menu.
As of this afternoon:
12,000 impressions so far
222 clickthroughs
1.80% clickthrough (CTR)
CTR stands for click through rate. The national average for click through rates is .2% so you can see that this campaign is blowing away the national average on response.
I know the ad is working because I've personally made the decision to eat Chen's buffet twice since the campaign went live! Seeing the ad makes me hungry, and looking at the daily menu list helps make my decision to visit that much easier!
For information on how you can have a successful online campaign that will make shelbystar.com readers hungry for your business, give me a call or drop me an email.
